KREATE Space Makeover, Pt. 3

Welcome to Part 3 of my KREATE Space Makeover!

This part features my family’s home gym and my DIY accent wall.

Because my space functions as both my creative space and family basement, I decided to include a mini home gym in my space for my family to enjoy.

The TV in the gym mostly functions as a small movie screen since it directly faces my sofa bed in the lounge area, but it also can be used to display workout videos. I also use the area when I choose to use my Wii console so I have proper space to play.

Because the TV is not mounted to the wall, I needed to purchase a shelf that was wide enough to hold it while also providing adequate storage underneath.

I chose the IKEA Kallax unit in the black-brown color to complement the black and white theme that I was going for in the space.

I painted some large wood cube storage bins that I found at Target in a matte black color to match the shelves and hide away some of the gym clutter that I didn’t want to display.

I placed some weights, gym towels, yoga accessories, and my Wii console on the open shelves along with a small electric fan on top.

In addition to the equipment on the shelves, I have a larger fan, foam mats, and my yoga ball stored to the left of the bins on the storage wall for easy access.

As a way to get creative with the layout of the room, I decided to use bookshelves as a divider wall. To make it feel more fitting to the space, I covered the back of the shelves with the same contact paper that I used on my inspiration board along with some 12” x 12” peel and stick mirror tiles. The inspirational prints taped around the mirror are from a wall collage kit that I purchased on Amazon.
